WHEN WERE THE TREASURES CREATED?
The traditional and national specifics, typical for the architecture of each region, lived parallel to the Baroque style. In this way the buildings were enriched by some new elements, representing the identity of the different countries.
For example in some South-Eastern Europe countries, such as Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, FYR of Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro, and Turkey the specific style of the Balkan traditional house emerged. In each country this style was developed, featuring individual local characteristics. Thus the style of the National Revival evolved in Bulgaria. Today you can see for yourself the unmatched and unique view of the houses, built during that period. The numerous protruded bay-windows, the specific roof curves, the fairy coloured facades, the “Alafranga” and the carved ceilings are a real treasure.
In Romania the style „Brankovani” emerged, combining key Baroque elements with national motifs, typical for the country.
