MONASTERY, CHURCH
There is always a church with the monasteries. In the catholic ones it is outside the yard, so that the believers may enter it without necessarily mix with the monks. The church in the east-orthodox monasteries is usually situated in the inner yard. They call it cloister church. Nearby is the bell tower. Its bell ring calls upon the monks to say their prayer. The dwellings of the monks, called dormitory, are located around the yard. Another typical building for the East-orthodox monasteries is the monastery kitchen. This is the place, where the monks cook their meals.
