The icons and the iconostasis are typical only for the East orthodox churches. They are replaced in the catholic churches by painted glass panes, called stained glass. A prominent place in the entire space of the church is devoted to the pulpit – the place used to recite the Gospel. You enter into the temple through an entry corridor, called narthex. Sometime there is a small yard before the narthex, called atrium.
