ABOUT THE TREASURE
In the first century the Roman city of Siscia became a prime military outpost, the starting point for conquering the East. The city, located on the left bank of the Kupa River, had a vast area and was surrounded by city walls. Its necropolises were outside the walls, by the roads leading to the city. An important feature of this site is that the present-day town of Sisak and its historical centre are located on exactly the same spot as the Roman city of Siscia.
