ABOUT THE TREASURE
In 2001, archaeologists discovered the long-lost ancient city of Helike. It lies in the northern part of the Peloponnesian Peninsula on the coast of the Ionian Sea. In 373 before Christ it was destroyed by an earthquake and sank in the waters of the coastal lagoon. At present there are plans to build a railway across the excavation site, which would destroy the finds of archaeologists.
