ABOUT THE TREASURE
The underwater archaeological site in Spinut Bay is one of two existing sites in the Croatian offshore zone with preserved remains of buildings from the Roman period. The ruins on the sea floor were found in 1958 and have raised a series of questions for archaeologists. It is curious that the bricks in the ruins are mixed with amphorae, vase-like two-handled vessels with a tapering bottom. The buildings are believed to have been built in the distant second century. But why and by whom remains a mystery.
