The remains of the ancient town of Doclea are the most important remains of an urban centre from the Roman age in Montenegro. Doclea was an important administrative and cultural centre. Its layout is typical of Roman towns from the first century before Christ. In addition to the monuments from the Roman age, two necropolises, two Christian churches from the fifth and sixth centuries, and a smaller cruciform church from the ninth century have been discovered at this archaeological site.
