ABOUT THE TREASURE
Built in 1388 by masons probably coming from the Morava Valley in Serbia, the church of the Cozia Monastery is the earliest model for a whole range of orthodox churches up to the present-day.
Specially the church introduced in the Vallachian Region the type composed of a barrel vault pronaos room and a sequel of three apse naos and a half round altar apse. The exterior appearance is of both Serbian influence, in respect to the brick arcades covering the perimeter, and Georgian influence, in respect to the flat carved stone decoration. The double eaves of the roof and the sincere display in exterior of the interior space is another characteristic of the traditional Moravian churches, transferred in the XIVth century North of Danube.
