ABOUT THE TREASURE

What: Tradition
Where: Greece, Cyclades
When:

Sifnos is an island of the Cyclades group in which ancient traditions continue to live.
Pottery is the leading craft in Sifnos. Since pre-historic times the skilled masters of Sifnos have been making delicate amphorae, pots, jars and other utensils. But you will learn their strange names and purpose when you go there.
The Island of Tinos of the Cyclades lies slightly to the North of Sifnos. It is known for its stone carvers. On the island there are deposits of white and green marble, which have made Tinos famous all over Europe. Everywhere on Tinos you will see works of its skilled stone carvers – marble relieves, engravings, ornaments of churches and houses.
But the best way to feel the charm of the Cyclades is to try one of the delicious local specialties – manoura or xynomizithri cheese used in making different dishes, as well as the gifts of the sea – fish, mussels, octopuses, etc.
