The monumental portal of the cathedral in Trogir (known as Radovan’s Portal) is an extremely valuable heritage site. The ideas and techniques used in its construction were very bold and innovative in their day (the first half of the 13th century). The traditional Christian scenes and portraits incorporate human features and realistic details from everyday life. They also depict a number of new subjects. All this, done with exquisite craftsmanship, makes Radovan’s Portal one of the masterpieces of Gothic sculpture not only in Croatia but in all of Europe.
