ABOUT THE TREASURE
In the bosom of Bistra Mountain in the southwest of FYR of Macedonia lies the village of Galicnik. There you can see unique buildings and landscapes but you cannot skip the local weddings. In old times all of them were held on one day – 12th July, the feast of St Peter. Sometimes their number reached up to 50! This was so because local men used to go to work abroad and had the chance to go back to their birth place only in the summer.
Wedding ceremonies used to last for weeks. Different rituals were made for the good health and happiness of the young. The bride and the groom wore special clothes. People believed that these clothes were magical and protected the couple from evil. The feast ended merrily with lots of songs, dances and fun.
