Porec, where Christianity was adopted as early as 4th century, was an important religious centre and episcoplal residence. The monuments preserved until today - the basilica (church), atrium (internal yard), baptistery (baptizing room) and episcopal palace are outstanding examples of religious architecture. The basilica is especially interesting, combining classical and Byzantine elements in an exceptional manner. The monument is the most complete surviving complex of its type.
