The Early Middle Ages is what we call the period between the 5th and the 8th century. That was the time when the Eastern Roman Empire with its capital Constantinople (today Istanbul) and Byzantine culture developed. At the same time, many new states emerged on the territory of South Eastern Europe. Many treasures dating from that time have reached us. The masters began to erect majestic churches with domes, the first monasteries were established, stone fortresses and vast palaces adorned the landscape. Look at them!
