Ancient Greece spans the time from the 7th to the 1st century B.C. A time when arts and sciences developed. The history of Ancient Greece is divided into periods. The oldest, called the Archaic Age, was the one in which the first city-states, or polis, were created and the first temples were built. The next, the Classical Age, was a time of progress and development of Athens, which became the most important polis in Hellas. The Hellenistic Age was the last period of Ancient Greece.
